How to Choose
Pure tung oil versus tung oil finish is the critical distinction. Many products labeled 'tung oil finish' contain little or no actual tung oil -- they are mineral spirits with a small amount of oil for marketing purposes. Waterlox Original Tung Oil Sealer Finish
Waterlox is a tung oil varnish -- actual tung oil polymerized with a varnish resin that provides a harder surface film than pure tung oil alone. It is not pure tung oil but the tung oil content is real and meaningful. Waterlox is used on hardwood floors, kitchen countertops, and high-wear surfaces where pure tung oil would require too many coats for adequate protection.
